Hallym University Hangang Sacred Heart Hospital

Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital hosted an inauguration ceremony for their 4th hospital Director, Kyu Cheol Noh, at the Auditorium inside the hospital on July 31. On this day, around 300 key officials and faculty members attended the event to congratulate the director’s new start.

Newly appointed hospital director, Kyu Cheol Noh stated in his inaugural address, “I will do my best to create infinite future value for Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital and to ensure the happiness and growth of our faculty members." He further expressed, "Through improving medical quality and activating research, I aim to elevate our institution to the next level where both clinical and research capabilities are recognized."

In order to achieve this, Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital has decided to establish a ‘premier regional hub hospital’ that provides the best medical care to severe and rare disease patients in the region until they are fully cured. The hospital must be reborn as a ‘research hospital’ by revitalizing academic medicine, including strengthening the research capabilities of professors. In addition, it needs to be a workplace where all faculty members can work joyfully and happily.

Director Noh said, "To enhance medical quality, we will activate organ transplantation surgeries. We will train and strengthen surgeons’ abilities through Hallym Institute for Medical Simulation (HIMS) at Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital and establish the 'Cancer Integration Support Center' which will be responsible for total care of cancer patients. Additionally, so as to enhance research capabilities, we will establish the 'Hallym International Stem Cell Therapy Research Institute'. It will serve as a hub for advanced regenerative medicine and biopharmaceutical research through clinical and basic translational research on severe and rare diseases."

Director Kyu Cheol Noh has worked as an orthopedic specialist at Hallym University Medical Center for over 20 years, specializing in shoulder and elbow joint disorders, arthroscopic surgery, and joint replacement surgery. He graduated from Hallym University College of Medicine in 1993, obtained his medical doctorate degree from Korea University Graduate School. He also gained extensive overseas training experiences at Columbia University Medical Center in the United States. In addition, Director Noh has been actively engaged in various academic activities at organizations such as the Korean Orthopedic Association, Korean Shoulder and Elbow Society, Korean Arthroscopy Society and other associations. He has also been selected as the next president of the Korean Shoulder and Elbow Society.
