Hallym University Medical Center (HUMC) donated the entire amount raised from the virtual run event called ‘WeRunWe Ro: For Hidden Heroes’ to the firefighters’ welfare program.

HUMC held a donation delivery ceremony at Hallym University Hangang Sacred Heart Hospital on November 1st. The ceremony was attended by Executive Director Hee-Sung Yoon of Hallym University Medical Center, Director Jun Hur of Hallym University Hangang Sacred Heart Hospital, and General Secretary Jong Kil Choi of Hallym Burn Foundation. The total amount donated on this day was 30.13 million Korean Won, and the money raised will be used for the firefighter trauma recovery support project conducted by the Hallym Burn Foundation. These include developing programs for trauma recovery, building a firefighter trauma recovery community, and providing support for caregivers.

‘WeRunWeRo’ is a donation event that helps people in need in our society through virtual running challenges. This event was held under the theme of 'For the Hidden Hero', with the intention of running with gratitude and consolation to the firefighters who are struggling for saving lives. From October 3rd to October 14th, it was conducted as a non-contact event across the country, and participants selected the time and place they wanted among 3km, 5km, and 10km and ran under quarantine rules.

The event was attended by 1,001 people, including the general public who are interested in the donation marathon, faculty members, their families, patients and their guardians of Hallym University Medical Center. Participants uploaded photos showing their participation and put keywords underneath them such as ‘donation marathon’ and ‘for the hidden hero’ on their personal SNS accounts.

“We hope that at a time when help, consideration, and companionship are needed more than ever, this event will be of small help to the firefighters, the hidden heroes of our society,” said Executive Director Hee-Sung Yoon. “Our medical center will continue to provide support where help is needed in our society through the ‘WeRunWeRo’ events, in which faculty members and the general public participate together,” he added.
