Hallym University Hangang Sacred Heart Hospital

Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital opened the Robotic Dental Surgery Center on June 16 for the first time in Korea with a specialized operating room for robotic dental surgery.

The center consists of a robotic dental surgery room, a robotic surgery simulation room, and a robotic surgery education room where preclinical research, clinical evaluation, and medical staff education are available.

The opening ceremony was attended by Director Kyung Ho Yu of Hallym hospital, Dean Byung-Eun Yang of Graduate School of Clinical Dentistry, Director Soo-Hwan Byun of the Robotic Dental Surgery Center, Professor Sung Ho Choi of Yonsei University and CEO Seung-Woo Seo of Dentium Co. Ltd.

“Through the opening of this center, the dental robot system is expected to be used more in the clinical field. We will work with Dentium, the world-class implant provider, in many ways to secure the global market share in the dental robot industry,“ said Director Byun.

Hallym hospital also plans to collaborate with Dentium, KAIST, and Korea University College of Engineering on developing the robotic dental surgical system.

On the day of the opening ceremony, Hallym hospital and Dentium signed an MOU for the joint development of robotic dental surgical systems and technology alliances.

It is a part of the robot industry technology development project organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and designed to develop a surgical robot that can accurately and safely implant implants using a new concept of a dynamic guide.
