Hallym University Hangang Sacred Heart Hospital

Hallym University Medical Center (HUMC) and SK C&C will cooperate to realize digital transformation via utilizing core technologies of the fourth industrial revolution such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), big data, Internet of Things (IoT), and cloud services.

The two parties signed on “MOU to promote Digital Transformation” at Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital on April 9th, 2019. HUMC owns the largest medical big data in Korea and is actively utilizing state-of-the-art technology including AI on its clinical sites, while SK C&C is leading Korea’s information and communications technology (ICT). This MOU will boost up a project that promotes convergence and integration between medicine and ICT. They agreed on cooperating in projects such as cloud services introduction/transformation of IT system, digital transformation projects using ICT such as AI, big data, and IoT, and various kinds of health care projects.

"Innovation and transformation through digital technology mean more than just introducing new technology. It’s more like a disruptive innovation,” said Mr. Kyu-Hong Lee, Director General of Planning & Coordination at HUMC. "HUMC is already leading AI and big data technologies in medical field. We are looking forward to providing higher-level medical services under optimal circumstances to the patients through technological collaboration between HUMC and SK,” he added.

“Developing innovative health care services based on digital technology is critical in hospitals as they take responsibility for the patients’ life and health,” said Mr. Ki-Yeol Lee, Head of Digital Business Division at SK C&C. “We will support HUMC and its five general hospitals in maximizing digital transformation through SK C&C’s data technology (DT) such as AI, cloud services, and big data,” he added.
