Dr. Hee Jin Im wins best academic award from Korean Sleep Research Society

Dr. Hee Jin Im, Clinical Assistant Professor of Neurology at Hallym University Hangang Sacred Heart Hospital received the ‘Best Academic Award’ at the 15th Conference of Korean Sleep Research Society on June 30, 2018.


Dr. Im made a presentation about her research on ‘Insufficient sleep and depressed mood: the crossroads of social jetlag and sleep debt’, which proved that depression gets worse when there is discordance between individual’s inner rhythm and social rhythm.


Dr. Hee Jin Lee said, "In order to reduce the factors that harms the quality of life such as depression and headache, it is important not only to sleep more, but also to resolve the imbalance between inner rhythm and social rhythm."


Meanwhile, Dr. Hee Jin Im won the research project contest organized by Korean Sleep Research Society with her proposal to investigate the correlation between the time of occurrence of episodic migraine and social jetlag, which also brought her an award for excellence in academic research.
