Hallym designated as a tertiary general hospital four periods in a row

No.5787 Date2018-01-19 Hit 26411

Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital is designated as a tertiary general hospital again by the Ministry of Health and Welfare of Korea. It’s the fourth period(2018~2020) in a row for the hospital to be designated as a tertiary general hospital following the first(2009-2011), second(2012-2014), and the third(2015-2017) period.

Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital has served as a control tower to cope with emergencies in a community by providing professional services since its designation as the regional emergency medical center in southwest Gyeonggi in 2015 as well as operating special ambulances and mobile intensive care ambulances equipped with ECMO.

As the world is entering an aging society, the hospital introduced a state-of-the-art DNA genetic testing device in 2017 to analyze individual genetic risk of diseases such as cancer, stroke, Parkinson’s disease and dementia. This device allows doctors to analyze patients’ individual genomes so as to provide treatment service tailored to each patient.

In addition, the hospital is operating education and research facilities such as Ilsong Institute of Life Science, Hallym Institute of Translational Genomics & Bioinformatics, Hallym Institutes for Translational Medicine, and Hallym Institute for Medical Simulation to take a leap forward and achieve medical breakthroughs.

Director Kyung Ho Yu said, “As Hallym Unviersity Sacred Heart Hospital has been selected as a tertiary general hospital for the four periods in a row, we feel a great deal of responsibility. As we always have, we will do the best in operating our regional emergency center to provide patient-oriented medical care and differentiated services focusing on patient safety.”

A tertiary general hospital, a general hospital that has more than 20 medical departments including 9 mandatory departments, provides the highest level of medical services to patients with severe diseases related to heart, brain, and cancer. It is designated through assessment of treating patients, doctor to patient ratio, and quality of medical services every three years.
