Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital opens Neonatal Intensive Care Center

Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital opened a regional Neonatal Intensive Care Center on January 10, 2017. Designated as Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Center by Ministry of Health and Welfare, the hospital received 750 million won of financial support for facility establishment. Dongtan Hospital additionally installed 5 more patient beds, and it now has 11 patient beds for newborns in total, which can provide intensive medical care to premature babies less than 2.5kg and high-risk infants with congenital malformations.


At the hospital, doctors stay 24 hours to provide quick and precise medical service under standard medical practice. Also, various nursing care programs are offered at the Neonatal Intensive Care Center with the cooperation of doctors of Obstetrics & Gynecology. In addition, the center has the latest equipments including ventilators, incubators, echocardiography, brain ultrasound scanner, brain wave scanner and nitrogen monoxide supply. Prof. Ka Young Choi of Pediatrics said, ”We will do our best to protect our newborn patients at this remodeled Neonatal Intensive Care Center by providing the highest quality care. With the opening of Neonatal Intensive Care Center, I expect we, as a regional medical institution, will be able to contribute to reduce the infant mortality and to enhance the medical quality of the hospital.”


Director Kyu Hyung Ryu of the hospital said, “As a regional medical institution, Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital’s recent opening of Neonatal Intensive Care Center will contribute not only to decrease in infant mortality but also to enhancement of quality of the hospital.”
