Dr. Hyuk Jai Choi, Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at Hallym University Chuncheon Sacred Heart Hospital has won the ‘Best Paper Award’ in the Korean Headache Society’s 2016 Spring conference. The title of the paper was ‘The Effect of Pulsed Radiofrequency Neuromodulation of Cervicogenic Headache.’ Pulsed radiofrequency neuromodulation is treatment which gives repetitive pulsatile stimulation with low temperature to nerves, which are connected to a muscle or a ligament that evoke pain, to relieve nervous excitement.
According to the research, complete remission of pain occurred among 16 patients, which is about 70% of the total 23 patients, during the period of observation. Thus, it has proved that the treatment has a long-term effect in Cervicogenic Headache.
