Dr. Dong-Kyu Kim identifies a main cause of nasal polyps

No.4712 Date2015-08-28 Hit 26911

Dr. Dong-Kyu Kim of Otorhinolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery at Hallym University Chuncheon Sacred Heart Hospital has found IL-25 as one of the main causes of nasal polyps which suggests the possibility of developing a new medicine. Previously, Dr. Kim also identified IL-33 as one of causes of nasal polyps.

Last February, Dr. Kim has published a research paper ‘IL-5 as a novel therapeutic target in nasal polyps of patients with chronic rhinosinusitis’ jointly with Dr. Dae-Woo Kim of Otorhinolaryngology at Seoul National University and Dr. Hyun-Woo Shin of Pharmacology at Seoul National University.
