Hallym University Hangang Sacred Heart Hospital has been designated as a Burn Specialty Hospital by the Ministry of Health and Welfare(MOHW) Korea on January 1, 2015. The hospital has been operating the government-designated burn specialized emergency medical center since 2006.

As the country’s very first hospital to perform escharectomy and allograft, it has been playing a leading role in burn treatments. The hospital’s multidisciplinary team of experts from the burn surgery, plastic surgery, rehabilitation medicine, psychiatry, emergency medicine and internal medicine departments are providing burn patients a multidisciplinary treatment including acute burn care, reconstructive surgery, rehabilitation and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Moreover, Hangang hospital signed an MOU with the National 119 Rescue Services in 2013 to cure emergency patients across all regions in South Korea through an air medical service called Heli-EMS (Helicopter-based Emergency Medical Service).

Director Wook Chun of the hospital said, “As the nation’s unique burn specialized hospital that operates both burn specialized emergency center and burn specialty hospital, we will do our best to provide patient-centered care for burn patients and help them get back to their normal life quickly.”
