Hallym University Hangang Sacred Heart Hospital

Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital successfully hosted the international training course Pierre Lasjaunias Neurovascular Educational Team Course which is better known as its acronym “Planet Course.” ‘Planet Course 2014 Korea’ was held from March 30 to April 4, 2014 at the hospital.

The Planet Course 2014 Korea attracted over 100 doctors specialized in Interventional neuroradiology, neuroradiology, neurosurgery and neurology from 18 countries including U.S., Canada, Australia, Japan and China.

The world’s leading medical professionals convened in Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital to exchange various ideas and learn latest medical trend: Ways to detect variations in the vascular anatomy, manage their implications for the development of certain vascular disorders that may be associated with these variants; accurately detect and manage appropriately vascular neoplasms affecting the brain, the head and neck region and the spine and spinal cord.

During the six-day event, internationally recognized experts including Dr. Karel G. terBrugge, professor of interventional neuroradiology of University of Toronto and Dr. Sirintara Pongpech, professor of radiology at Mahidol University shared their experience through didactic lectures, discussions and workshops.

“The Planet Course 2014 was a great opportunity to promote Hallym University Medical Center to international doctors around the world,” said Dr. Hwang Dae-hyun, professor of radiology. “The event has also taken international reputation of HUMC radiology department to a notch higher.”

Named after Dr. Pierre Lasjaunias, a worldly renowned anatomist and interventional neuroradiologist, Planet Course is an international education program that highlights the importance of anatomy.

Doctors who have successfully completed the course are given Certificates of Completion issued by University of Toronto.

Planet Course is held into two-sessions every year around the world. The session 2 will be held from October 26- 31, 2014 at Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital.
