Hallym University Hangang Sacred Heart Hospital

Dr. Jung-Taek Hwang of Hallym University Chuncheon Sacred Heart Hospital’s bone and joint center had the honor of presenting his thesis concerning rotator cuff disease in shoulder at the 12th International Congress on Shoulder and Elbow Surgery (ICSES). In Nagoya, Japan as his two related theses were accepted at the congress. The event was held from April 10 to 12, 2013.

The ICSES is a big conference where about 2,000 orthopedic surgeons from 100 countries get together and share their latest research results on elbow and shoulder joints.

Dr. Hwang won the honor of presenting two theses to distinguished scholars in the congress. They are “Is arthroscopic coracoplasty necessary in subcoracoid impingement syndrome? Park JY, Lhee SH, Oh KS, Kim NR, Hwang JT.Arthroscopy. 2012 Dec;28(12):1766-75. (corresponding author)” and “Clinical and Ultrasonographic Outcomes of Arthroscopic Suture Bridge Repair for Massive Rotator Cuff Tear. Park JY, Lhee SH, Oh KS, Moon SG, Hwang JT. Arthroscopy. 2013 Feb;29(2):280-289 (corresponding author).”

Dr. Hwang’s other thesis, “Efficacy of direct arthroscopy-guided suprascapular nerve block after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair: a prospective randomized study. Lee JJ, Yoo YS, Hwang JT, Kim DY, Jeon SJ, Hwang SM, Jang JS. Knee Surg Sports Traumatol Arthrosc. 2013 Mar 1. [Epub ahead of print](co-author)” was published in Europe’s KSSTA in March and it was accepted for the poster session presentation in the 24th Congress of the European Society for Surgery of the Shoulder and the Elbow (SECEC).

Dr. Hwang is also listed as a candidate for Marquis Who’s Who, one of the world’s top 3 preeminent publishers of biographical information.
