Hallym University Hangang Sacred Heart Hospital

Medical delegates of the U.S. Army Medical Department Activity, Korea (MEDDAC-KOREA), visited Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do on February 6, 2013.

The meeting was attended by Hallym leadership including Dr. Hae-Ran Lee, president of Hallym University Medical Center (HUMC), and Dr. Ho-Guen Chang, director of Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital, and members of the U.S. MEDDAC-Korea including Col. Kelly A. Murray, Commander of the 65th Medical Brigade and MEDDAC-Korea, Col. Robert Forsten, Commander of the 121st Combat Support Hospital and Deputy Commander of U.S. Army Medical Activity-Korea, and Col. Rawson L. Wood, Commander of 51st Medical Group and surgeon of the 7th Air Force in Osan.

The program included welcome remarks by Dr. Hae-Ran Lee, President of Hallym University Medical Center and Dr. Ho-Guen Chang, director of Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital and a hospital introduction. The welcome ceremony was followed by a hospital tour of the emergency medical center, general wards, operation rooms, the intensive care unit (ICU), and heliport. The U.S. officers took a careful look at the medical equipment and hospital facilities and showed keen interest in hospital management system and the patient care process.

After the tour, they closely consulted with each other to make guidelines of referral system for U.S soldiers and their family members and to share ideas on future cooperation.

Meanwhile, President Lee thanked the U.S. officials for their participation and interest in Hallym and said, “I believe our two institutions will be able to establish much closer and mutually beneficial relationship by making a patient referral system. We at Hallym will do our best to provide the highest quality healthcare service to the U.S. Forces and their family members.”
