Hallym, Padova Experts Discuss New Insights in Medicine & Economics

Many experts in medicine and economics from Hallym University Medical Center(HUMC) and those from the University of Padova shared views on “New Insights in Modern Medicine” and “Economics and Business” at the 2nd collaborative symposium in Padova, October 17-19.
The 14-member Hallym delegation, headed by Dr. Dai-Won Yoon, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Hallym University, visited Padova for this meeting. Among other Hallym delegates were Dr. Bom-Mo Chung, Former President of Hallym University, Dr. Yong-Koo Kim, Director of Hallym Academy of Sciences, Dr. Young-Sun Lee, President of Hallym University, Dr. Hae-Ran Lee, President of Hallym University Medical Center, Dr. Yong-Sun Kim, Executive Vice President for Health and Biomedical Sciences.
The meeting represented a commitment by both Hallym and Padova to the dissemination of their research findings and clinical experience to the audience. It is expected that this occasion would lay a firm foundation for future collaboration between the two in the days ahead.

Since Hallym reached an international affiliation agreement with University of Padova on October 18, 2010, it held the first joint symposium under the theme of ‘Molecular Mechanisms of Neurodegenerative Diseases’ at Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital in Korea on the same day.
The University of Padova in Veneto, Italy, was founded in 1222. It has produced such prominent figures as Nicholas Copernicus, William Harvey, and Galileo Galilei who was on the faculty from 1592 to 1610. The University offers a wide range of degrees in 13 schools including medicine and surgery, pharmacy and veterinary medicine. Approximately 65,000 students are currently enrolled in the university. It has the oldest Botanical Garden in Europe which remains to this day on its original site, and the geological research center.
