Kangnam on Winning Streak in Cesarean Delivery Review

Kangnam ranked 1st in adequacy of cesarean delivery in 2010 by the Health Insurance Review Agency(HIRA) for three straight years.
In the agency’s evaluation of the nation’s 703 hospitals delivering more than 100 babies a year, Kangnam again proved itself to be in the nation’s best medical group for three years in a row.
The cesarean delivery is a must to be performed only when the lives of the mother and her baby are at risk as natural childbirth is not possible. The HIRA’s evaluation aims at reducing the rate of cesarean delivery as Korea’s rate of 36.6 percent is much higher than the average, or 25.7 percent, among the members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development(OECD).
