Two Philippine medical tourism experts took a tour to Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital on April 1, to observe the advanced medical facilities including outpatient clinics and some specialized centers.
They were invited by Hallym International Medical Tourism Education Center(HiMTEC) which held a seminar on April 1 on "Medical tourism in the Philippines: Challenges and Opportunities" at Hallym University.
Ms. Joyce S. Alumno, Secretary General, Health and Wellness Alliance of the Philippines, talked about "The Philippines Journey to Health and Wellness Tourism," followed by Dr. Anthony. Calibo, Consultant, Institute of Pediatrics and Child Health, St. Luke's Medical Center, who dealt with "Role of the Department of Health in Medical Tourism."
Professor Hyun Sook Yoon, HiMTEC director, said, "I am very delighted to have a chance to share opinions on the present and future of medical tourism. Last year, Korea also jumped on the bandwagon of fast-growing medical tourism. I hope Hallym is now equipped to play a leading role in cultivating medical tourism professionals."
HiMTEC is an institution established to educate core professionals who can develop medical tourism as one of the major industries of Gangwon-do. Medical tourism includes high-margin medical service with tours and related industries.
