A ground-breaking ceremony for Quang Nam Central General Hospital(QNCGH) was held at the construction site in Quang Nam Province, on January 20, 2010. As the largest official development assistant(ODA) project of the Korea International Cooperation Agency(KOICA), the Korean government supports 35 billion dollars for the hospital.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Yong-Sun Kim, executive vice president of health & biomedical science at Hallym University, chairman Dai-won Park of the KOICA, Minister Hong-Jae Lim of the Korean embassy in Vietnam, ministers of the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Health, and the people’s committee of Quang Nam Province, Vietnam, and 500 residents.

The seven-story hospital will be built on a total floor space of 33,655 square meters on a site of 200,000 square meters, which was provided by the Vietnamese government. The hospital will operate 21 clinical departments in 2011 in its 500-bed main building and four annexes.

For the project, Hallym University Medical Center, as a Project Management Consultant(PMC), will be reviewing necessary medical materials and equipment, consulting efficient hospital management, and training employees.

Dr. Yong-sun Kim said, "The establishment of Quang Nam Central General Hospital will be a great contribution to help enhance the regional healthcare and the quality of life in the seven provinces of Central Vietnam including Quangnam Province."
