Hallym University Hangang Sacred Heart Hospital

Hallym University Medical Center(HUMC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) on May 21 with the Rural Development Administration(RDA), and the Korea Institute of Machinery & Materials(KIMM). The signatories held a seminar at the Hanmaeum Hall in Hallym University Sacred Heart Hospital.

The seminar was attended by nearly 100 participants such as Hallym leadership including Dr. Yong-Sun Kim, Executive Vice President for Health & Biomedical Sciences, Dr. Hyoun-han Cho, Senior Vice President of HUMC, Dr. Ho-Geun Chang, Director of Hangang Sacred Heart Hospital, and Jae-Soo Kim, Administrator of the RDA, Dr. Eun-Gi Cho, Director of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Sang-Chun Lee, President of KIMM, and Hyun-Sil Kim, Director of the systems engineering research division of KIMM.

At the ceremony, Dr. Hae-Ran Lee, President of HUMC, said in her congratulatory remarks, "Medicine, agriculture, and engineering are inseparably related to each other. These three areas present boundless potential. Thus, if our three organizations will work together, we will be able to provide value added services to customers such as farmers, and patients. We will also participate in the government-led green growth projects."

With the signing of the MOU, Hallym is expected to develop and apply medical skills and equipment: artificial disks in the spine center, surgical robots in the arthroplasty center, artificial cochlea in the otolaryngology clinic, stents in the cardiovascular center, rehabilitation equipment in the geriatric center, and wound dressing in the burn center.

After the signing of the memorandum, they discussed ways for mutual cooperation, and growth. Presentations were given by Wook-Han Kim, Manager of the research coordination of the RDA, on 'The Development of agriculture technologies for Green Growth', Shin Huh, Director of the Laboratory of Nature-inspired Engineering, on 'The Current Status of the research of nano-biotechnological element and equipment of KIMM,' and Dr. Yun-Joong Kim, Professor of the academic research task force team of HUMC, on 'The Current Status, and Vision of HUMC.'
