Hallym To Share Innovative Medical Knowledge with Leading US Cardiologists

Hallym University Medical Center (HUMC) is going to hold the 7th Hallym-Columbia-Weill Cornell-NYP Symposium at the Crystal Ballroom, COEX (Convention & Exhibition Center), Seoul, on June 9, 2009. Under the theme of "How to cope with global pandemic of cardiovascular disease," four prominent experts from Columbia University and some cardiologists from Hallym University will attend as speakers.
Preliminary topics of four Columbia speakers are as follows:
Session I - Life Style and Risk Factors
* Dyslipidemia by Ira J. Goldberg
Special Lecture
* Percutaneous AV Replacement by Allan Schwartz, Program Director
Session II – AMI
* Update on Reperfusion Therapy in AMI by Gregg Stone
Session III - Heart Failure
* Update in CHF Management: Drugs and Devices by Ulrich Jorde
Meanwhile, Dr. Antonio M. Gotto, Dean of Weill Cornell Medical College, plans to join the meeting in Seoul. A renowned educator and internationally recognized authority in cardiovascular diseases, Dr. Gotto was first named Dean of Weill Cornell in 1997. Dr. Gotto speaks nationally and internationally on cardiovascular diseases, and has a contributed more than 500 scholarly articles and books to the medical literature. In addition, he is a co-author of The New Living Heart and The New Living Heart Diet, which explain the origins and a dietary treatment of cardiovascular diseases to the general public.
Since Hallym entered into an international affiliation agreement with Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, Weill Cornell Medical College, and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital(NYP), in 2004, the institutions have addressed a variety of medical issues.
Hallym will distribute the brochure aiming at cardiologists at home and abroad and the symposium homepage will be open soon.
