Hallym University Medical Center (HUMC) held a forum for building competitiveness of its professors at the COEX (Convention & Exhibition Center) on August 31, 2008. The event was attended by about 350 participants including Chairman Dai-won Yoon, executives, medical staff and employees.
The gathering was designed to strengthen competitive edges of Hallym professors needed to make HUMC one of the most advanced medical institutions by discussing and sharing excellent ideas. HUMC has faced with the growing unfavorable external business conditions such as an economic slowdown, unrealistic medical charges, intensified health regulations and challenges from other competitors. To handle these concerns, the participants agreed, a core concept of beefing up competitiveness is to make HUMC equipped with a future growth engine through enhancing research abilities, and raising a brand recognition with the most advanced medical services.
The forum was made up of two sessions: ways to activate researches and alternatives to establishing Hallym's brand. "If we are highly motivated to exercise our great potential strategically by means of selection and concentration in each hospital, I believe, we will be able to build a world-renowned institution in the future," Chairman Yoon commented.
