Hallym University Medical Center (HUMC) hosted the 6th Hallym-NYP-Columbia-Weill Cornell Symposium at the COEX (Convention & Exhibition Center), Seoul on April 4, 2008. Since Hallym reached an international affiliation agreement with NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital(NYP), Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, and Weill Cornell Medical College in 2004, the institutions have collaborated on a series of annual international symposium. With this year being the sixth, the conference focused on "Current Trends of Arthroplasty & Spine Surgery."

At the opening ceremony, Dr. Sang-Hoon Bae, HUMC President, noted, "With the aging society posing formidable challenges, the demand for arthroplasty and spine surgery has surprisingly increased. In the meantime, we have witnessed splendid development in this field with application of new technologies such as minimally invasive surgery, computer-assisted orthopaedic surgery and use of new materials. I expect all the participants here to share many prominent speakers' knowledge and expertise through lectures and lively discussion."

Likewise, through active exchange programs among Hallym, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia and Cornell, our four organizations have been working very closely to improve human health and happiness."
